Dec. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia –  Ashworth College, (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) a leader in online education, today announced that the institution's Vice President of Education, Dr. Leslie Gargiulo will be a featured guest on “Education Forum”, an Atlanta/North Georgia-based online radio program. The program will air live at 3:00 p.m. EST, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 on www.AmericasWebRadio.com.

Whether a graduating high school senior applying to college for the first time or a working adult looking to complete a degree or pursue an advanced degree, one of the biggest challenges college students face is finding an accredited program that fits the family budget.

With increased concerns over the recession and the rising costs of high education in Georgia and nationwide, Dr. Gargiulo is expected to comment on how distance education can offer much needed financial relief to college students and their families.

“Distance education offers many benefits for today’s college student,” said Dr. Gargiulo. “The flexibility of studying anytime, the convenience of studying anywhere, and very affordable tuition options are strong arguments to consider distance education in this economy. For example, the average Ashworth degree program is as low as $240 per class and that includes textbooks.”

Over the past several months, as many as 43 states have made cuts to their higher education budgets. To address the shortfall, states have been forced to lay off teachers, reduce course offerings and further increase skyrocketing tuition and fees.

Nationwide, college tuition and fees have increased 439% from 1982-2007 according to the National Center for Public Policy. Families who were already struggling to pay college bills will now have to find a way to pay even more in a climate where many have lost their jobs and seen their investments decline in value.

“The listening public needs to be informed on the various opportunities they have to increase their skills and knowledge through advanced learning options available in our regional area,” said Karen Powell, host of “Education Forum.” “I’m pleased that Ashworth is able to be a guest.”

A taped recording of the interview will be archived and available on www.AmericasWebRadio.com shortly after the conclusion of the live Internet broadcast.
