BIG ARTS Classical Music Scholarship Recipient Announced December 12

Nov. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- BIG ARTS announces an additional educational initiative to its arts scholarship programs. The inaugural BIG ARTS/Kenneth L. Nees Scholarship Award recipient will be announced at BIG ARTS opening classical concert of the series, a piano recital with Vanessa Perez, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 12.

The major goal of the Nees Endowment Fund is to provide scholarships to highly talented high school and college students who plan to continue their classical music training. Students who study any classical musical instrument; composition; conducting and teaching are eligible. Application information is available online at BIG ARTS.org.

Ken Nees is a BIG ARTS volunteer who not only works in the office every day,  but is also the Chair of the Workshop/Classes Committee, he also has served several terms on the Board of Directors. He is a fan of classical music and is devoted to helping talented young musicians continue to develop their musical talents. Nees said, “This fund will foster and support musical excellence; something that will benefit students as well as impact our community.”

“We are so fortunate to have in Ken a wonderful volunteer with a keen sense of BIG ART’s needs and mission,” said Executive Director Lee Ellen Harder. “Ken’s classical music endowment is the perfect complement to our existing scholarship programs.”
