Nov. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- In today’s economic situation, we find ourselves in a world where there is fierce competition for university placements and jobs. Academia Latinoamericana de Español have recognised this and are delighted to announce the expansion of their fantastic ‘teen programme’ to all three of their campuses. The Academia is the leading expert when it comes to language courses, volunteering and travel in South America. With over 20 years experience in hosting international volunteers, they own three campuses, one in Quito, Ecuador, one in Cusco, Peru and one in Sucre, Bolivia. Previously, the teen programme was only available in Quito, however, due to popular demand, they have opened it up to all three locations.

The ‘teen programme’ has been specifically developed to offer young people the opportunity to have a memorable yet valuable experience during their summer vacation. Not only will the teenagers be building on their resumes by developing new language skills in Spanish classes, they will also join extracurricular activities, making for a complete cultural immersion. This kind of experience will put them one step ahead of the competition when it comes to applying for university places and employment. “Its incredible how quickly the teenagers soft skill set develops over the course of just a few weeks in a culture that is completely different to the one they are used to”, says Patty del Corral, Academia Director. As well as the language skills that they  will gain, students will also learn a degree of adaptability as they get used to a different way of life, teamwork, independence, patience and of course, how to budget their spending money!!! It also shows that they are capable of learning and travelling outside their comfort zone, which is an impressive talent to be able to show at such a tender age.

Teenagers can attend the programme for 2-8 weeks. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of 5 per class, but usually average 2-3, meaning all students learn and develop at a rapid rate with ample opportunity to practice their vocabulary, grammar and conversational skills. A supervised lunch is then prepared for the students followed by extra activities in the afternoons such as sports, salsa classes and visits to local attractions – the perfect way for the teenagers to practice their Spanish! At the weekends the group is taken on fully organised excursions, with past examples including trekking in Cotopaxi National Park and adventure activities in Mindo Cloud Forest!

Accommodation is provided in local host families all known to the Academia personally, allowing the students to get fully immersed in the Spanish language, while getting to know the culture of the country in a home-away-from-home!

The Academia can be reached via their website www.latinoschools.com for more information about their fantastic ‘teen programme’.
