Follow on Google News | Merriman wins remediation contractLEICESTER-based Merriman has won the contract to remediate land on a former industrial site between Sheffield and Barnsley in South Yorkshire.
By: Peter Corder As part of the works Merriman Remediation will mitigate costs to the client by removing shallow coal reserves at the former Deepcar Brickworks and then bring the land back into use. The works will also involve grouting of mine-workings and adits; addressing contamination issues; controlled compaction of re-engineered ground and having it geotechnically and environmentally validated to a standard approved by the NHBC ready for new home building. It is part of a contract with Bloor Homes to remediate around 30 acres of the former brickworks. The remediation will produce about 27 acres of residential land with around 440 residential units planned and three acres for commercial use.
