Nov. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- ALAMEDA – Alameda, California based Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) was selected in September by the U.S. Department of Commerce to attend the historic trade mission to Iraq in October, the first of its kind in Iraq in 30 years and the first since the removal of U.S. combat troops.  A highly selective process, CSECO was one of only fourteen (14) companies selected out of dozens that applied.  What made CSECO’s selection unique is that it was one of the smallest firms selected amidst a variety of large multinational corporations such as GE, Boeing, and Bell Helicopter.  Additionally, CSECO was the only company that manufactures and provides security equipment as many of the other companies were in the service, consulting, construction, aggregation, and aerospace sectors.
Damaune Y. Journey, Director of International Sales & Marketing for CSECO represented the company in Iraq.  The trade mission hosted by U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Francisco Sanchez and the mission was welcomed by U.S. Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey. (REFERENCE PHOTOS)  During a press conference inclusive of global media, Journey had this to say to the Associated Press about the opportunity in Iraq, “We have no intention of waiting until everything is figured out before we get involved,” a reference to the unsettled nature of the economic and political landscape in Iraq.  “Although there are many problems to be sorted out in Iraq, we believe that our equipment is part of the solution”, said Journey.  CSECO manufactures contraband detection equipment, namely the CT-30 Contraband Team Inspection Kit and the Buster® K910B Contraband Detector, used most often in the U.S. and abroad at checkpoints – land and sea - to inspect vehicles and vessels for smuggled goods.  For over 25 years this equipment has been used to limit the flow of illegal narcotics, currency, and explosives into the U.S. and its partners.  Journey was in Iraq to help inform the Iraqi government officials of the tremendous help the Buster® can provide in improving Iraqi border security.  “With the quantity of borders and types of neighbors that Iraq has, securing her borders and ports have a direct impact on terrorist activity in the region and the world”, says Journey.
CSECO and various Iraqi officials and aides are in contact about the opportunity to partner.  Although no deal has been signed yet, CSECO is confident that a deal will get done to provide border and port security with the Buster® and CT30 kits.  “It can only help in the fight against terrorism and the significant increase in illegal drugs that has appeared recently in Iraq,” said Journey.  “Wise Iraqi officials and outstanding U.S. transition advisors are committed to making Iraq a safe and prosperous nation…and so is CSECO.”
