Nov. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Ft. Myers Toyota “The Family Store” is the next stop for the “DOORS of Opportunity” exhibit. Utilizing doors donated to the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, which did not meet current code, artists purchased the doors for a nominal fee to create works of art. The DOORS of Opportunity exhibit has moved to the second floor Truck Center Gallery at Ft. Myers Toyota on Colonial Boulevard where they will be for sale. Doors are inventive, thought provoking and many have sculptural elements.

Curated by Kim Becker, Wes Fitch and Kathy Robinson, the DOORS of Opportunity will be open for public display starting with the 12-Hour Days Sales Event starting on Black Friday 26th and continuing through Monday, the 29th when the dealership will remain open extended hours from 8 AM to 8 PM.

The following weekend, Ft. Myers Toyota will host a grand afternoon reception on Sunday, December 5th from 1 PM to 3 PM. Leoma Lovegrove, a beloved local artist, will hold a live interactive painting experience – using a door of a Toyota Tacoma provided by the Ft. Myers Certified Collision Center! The public is welcome to attend and enjoy refreshments and the show as part of the exhibit.  There will also be live music by Elijah Green.
All doors are for sale and each participating artist will be donating funds from the sale of their door. Funds raised from door sales will go to the Homeless Coalition and toward further historical restoration of the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.

Participants include artists, schools, organizations and businesses: Cesar Aguilera-Best in Show award winner, Pamela Allen, Mark Cranford, FGCU students, Lia Galletti, Andrea Guerrero, Fort Myers High School, Doug McGregor and Jim Crane, Leoma Lovegrove, Mel Meo, Annette Nelson, Debby Rennirt, Kathy Robinson -Vicki Green and Bonnie Bohn, Canterbury School and the YMCA Kids’ Camp among others.

Sponsors include Pamela Templeton and Ft. Myers Toyota, Kiss Your Web, Learning in Motion, Luann Collins-Jaguar Data Systems, the Edison Restaurant and French Bread Oven.
