Nov. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- We all have stories from our past, memories that haunt us and celebrations of triumph, but few are brave enough to share them. Putting them on paper makes them real, raw, and exposed.  In the stories that compile the inspiring new book Speaking Your Truth, 49 courageous women tell of love, loss, healing, and faith.

“I’ve always wanted to create a book that would help to inspire and empower other women through the use of personal stories” says co-creator Lisa Shultz.

It all started with a dream and vision. Due to Lisa’s own past struggles in life and love she knew there were others out there who had stories to share, tales to tell, and hope to pass along. In mid 2009 she put out a request for stories and received one submission, that of Andrea Costantine. The story inspired Lisa to keep hold of her vision and continue on with her idea of an inspiring book of women’s personal stories.

In late 2009, Andrea joined on as the co-creator of the project and from there they began their journey of collecting stories. Within three months they had forty-nine powerful stories that are now the compilation of Speaking Your Truth.

Many people live with stories from their past, those stories have valuable lessons that others can learn from. Some of those stories are lighthearted and joyful – while others carry pain and trauma. People hold on to their stories, desperate to be released and to be forgiven and forgotten. Yet, when we keep them inside and hide them from the world – little by little they can chip away at us.

These hidden stories become the reason our relationships fail, our lives are a struggle, and an excuse to hold back and not live our life fully. Fearful of what others might think when we speak our truth, we keep them locked up, hoping that one day they will disappear, they will go away. Except the opposite happens, like an untreated tumor in your body – they expand day by day.

In the months that Speaking Your Truth has evolved, Lisa and Andrea have received stories of healing and transformation among the contributors and readers.

“The book is inspiring others to release their stories, speak their truth, and reclaim their power” says Andrea Costantine.
