Harrison School Of Music Expands to Serve Community Better

The Harrison School Of Music expands into new 1700 square foot facility and adds additional instructors. Busy families in Harrison, Rye, Purchase & Mamaroneck benefit from extended hours and additional convenient class times.
Nov. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Harrison School Of Music, formerly the Allegro Academy Of Music, has expanded into a new location to offer more diverse programs and convenient class times to the residents of Westchester’s Sound Shore.  According to School Director Faraci, the school has grown faster than anticipated since opening in 2009.  The fast growth is due to a dedication to providing convenient top quality instruction to its students.
This January, the Harrison School Of Music will add 18 new members to its teaching staff.  In January 2011, the school will start classes in a larger building just 1.5 miles away from its old location.  The Harrison School Of Music is quickly becoming one of Westchester County’s fastest growing music schools.  A Grand Opening / Open House celebration will be held Saturday January 8th, 2011 from 10am - 2pm.

Expanded class choices save time for busy families
School Director Faraci says that many of the parents choose the school because in addition to having excellent teachers and programs, it is possible to have one child in one music lesson, while another child is in another music lesson or ensemble.  The new facility will have 8 individual teaching studios and one large room for classes and ensembles. It is usually possible to get 2, 3 or even 4 different students in different lessons during the same time period.
The school has also many evening, and weekend class times to accommodate more students in “first choice” times.  Between the pressures of homework, sports and family time, a lot of parents can be overwhelmed trying to fit in all the activities.
Faraci says that many parents and kids are so busy that saving 45 minutes or an hour of commuting time between various lesson providers really helps the typical busy family’s schedule.

New Staff
The Harrison School Of Music has added 18 new teachers to its staff for the Winter / Spring term.  Educationally parents are very impressed with the staff.  All of the music teachers hold a university degree in the instrument they teach, and many have master’s degrees.  Some of the current teachers are completing doctorate degrees and are also on staff at local universities.  The music school handles everything from 6 month old beginners to extremely advanced, university level students.  Due to the number of teachers on staff, the students are matched up with teachers that best meet their needs and who relate well to them.

Large Variety of Music Classes & Ensembles
A large diversity of instruments is taught at the school.  Instrument lessons include piano, guitar, voice, drums, flute, violin (Suzuki & traditional), bass and banjo, as well as others.  Students can choose which style of music they would like to study, including pop, jazz, classical, or contemporary music.
Ensembles and classes at the school include a glee choir which is inspired from the hit t.v. show, a garage band, a children’s choir and a guitar ensemble.
The main focus is on helping students gain the skills they need to enjoy music long after music lessons are over.  In fact School Director Faraci says that the mission of the school is “to provide
students of all ages with the skills they need to enjoy music for their lifetime.”

Pre-School Music Class
The Harrison School Of Music is the exclusive location in Westchester County offering a pre-school music class that features the curriculum of “The Music Class®.”  “The Music Class®” is a nationally acclaimed group music program for children and parents or caregivers together that fosters musical knowledge through creative movement and song.  School Director Faraci chose to include this program at the Harrison School Of Music due to its exceptional educational value which prepares students to go into private instrument lessons when they are older.

Facilities Offer Extra Benefits
One of the most important features of a music studio is the type of walls and soundproofing used.  It can be distracting for students learning while they hear another lesson being conducted in a different room.  By soundproofing our walls, we have created a studio with less distractions and more focus on teaching.
The Harrison School of Music has taken an extra step in acoustical design.  In addition to soundproofing, Director Faraci tells us, the rooms have been designed with non-parallel walls to reduce an acoustical phenomenon known as standing waves.  Standing sound waves bounce off of parallel surfaces causing sound wave phase cancellation, which adversely affect how a student hears particular frequencies being generated from an instrument.  By removing standing waves from the room, the student hears a more accurate musical performance.

Due to the expansion of teaching times, additional studios and staff, the Harrison School Of Music will be accepting new registrations now and throughout early Spring.  For more information contact the school at 914-315-4223 or visit them at www.HarrisonSchoolOfMusic.com for helpful information on getting started in music lessons.
