Movember Moved to Minneapolis

Nov. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Starting November 1, now known as Movember,  the Minneapolis Keller Williams office is changing  faces.   The are taking on the challenge of raising  awareness for the Prostrate Cancer  Foundation, and Livestrong by growing  mustaches,  the emblem for men’s health.

One in two men will be diagnosed with cancer in  their lifetime.  One in six will be diagnosed with  prostate cancer.

All started out clean shaven on Nov. 1.  The goal  is to raise $5,000 in donations and be fully  mustachioed by November 26th.   Movember  started in Australia in 2003 as a bit of a joke, but it’s grown across the US, Canada, Europe and South Africa to over 255,000 members.   In 2009, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas (not for men only) raised $42 million for KARE 11 Movember’s global partners.   There’s only 8 days left, but not too late to join.  

The Minnesota Wild hockey team partnered with TV channel, KARE11, to break a Guinness World Record at the Wild vs. Predators game on Nov. 26, for the LARGEST GATHERING OF PEOPLE WITH MOUSTACHES.  The Wild is encouraging fans and staff to help by growing their own moustaches.  It promises to be a scruffy day.  The current World Record of 151 “mustachioed men” was set Nov. 28, 2009 in Scotland. The Wild’s World Record attempt will be documented with a photo on the ice of all moustache bearing participants right after the Nov. 26 game.
