After being rescued from a life-threatening encounter with lions in the Timbavati game region by a medicine woman known as the ‘Lion Queen’, Linda embarked on a journey into the mysteries of the White Lion. It is a mystical journey into the knowledge and ceremonies of Old Africa, in which humans and lions are able to communicate across the species barrier.

The White Lion is a genetic rarity of Panthera leo, and occurs in just one region on earth: Timbavati (which means ‘the place where the Starlions came down’ in Shangaan). Today White Lions – whom indigenous elders believe to be ‘the most sacred animals on the African continent’ - form the center of the notorious ‘canned’ trophy hunting industry - hand-reared captive lions, shot in enclosures for gross sums of money.  If they are not killed, they are forcibly removed from their natural birthplace and sold to zoos and circuses all over the world

Whether we view the White Lions as prophetic ‘Lions of God’, or simply as rare genetic mutations, the story of the White Lions is a true legend unfolding in our own extraordinary times.

About the Author

Linda Tucker spent much of her childhood visiting the Timbavati bushveld. In 1984 she left South Africa and followed a career in modelling and marketing in Europe.  

In 1991, on a return visit to the wilds of Timbavati, Lina was rescued from a pride of angry lions by a traditional medicine woman - Maria Khosa - known as ‘the Lion Queen of Timbavati’. This near-death experience changed Linda’s life. Linda gave up her career, and returned to Timbavati to find Maria Khosa, who became her teacher. Maria introduced her to African elders of all cultures who entrusted her with the ancient knowledge and the extraordinary cultural significance of Africa’s most sacred animal totem.  

Linda has dedicated the past 15 years of her life to the urgent protection of the White Lions.
Linda’s book, Mystery of the White Lions: Children of the Sun God, is the result of ten years of study with the African elders. The book has been hailed as a watershed in conservation history, and delivers secrets into the public domain which may provide the key not only to personal enlightenment, but also to preserving our planet.
