Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Sydney, Australia - With the Australian Dollar continuing to soar against the US Dollar, Aussie holiday-makers are flocking to America, leading hotel reservation specialist  HotelClub has found.

Since the beginning of September, the Australian Dollar has climbed from 90c to be above parity during November. It is also expected to stay above at least 90c USD for the extent of 2011, particularly as the Reserve Bank continues to raise interest rates.

Australian travellers are responding by taking off in droves. In line with the dollar increase, HotelClub has seen a clear increase in hotel room night bookings to the USA over the last 8 weeks compared with the same period in 2009.

Parity of the Australian Dollar with the Greenback hasn’t been seen since early 1982, and Aussies are now taking advantage of it. US hotels have become cheaper on conversion, as have all of the "extras" holiday-makers spend on while away - vacation activities, car hire and shopping in the USA have all become more affordable.

With Christmas just around the corner, some Aussies are also seeing the dollar surge as an opportunity to stay ahead of the holiday rush by shopping for gifts through overseas websites. Others are taking advantage of never-before seen hotel rates, planning on a white Christmas away from the scorching Australian summer.

"Now is a great time for Australians to get out there and holiday overseas. While the US has always been one of our popular destinations, the high-flying dollar means that Aussies are recognising new-found affordability for US trips", said Jon Wild from HotelClub.

The top 6 American cities currently being booked through HotelClub include Las Vegas, New York City, Honolulu, Waikiki and Los Angeles.

"Our most booked US holiday destinations show Australian travellers taking advantage of low rates to carry out typical US tourist activities in places such as Las Vegas. Shopping in New York is on the cards, and the large increase to bookings in Hawaii show Aussies aiming to use US Dollars as close to home as possible", Wild says.

In addition to the USA being at it’s most affordable in years, HotelClub is also offering an extra $30 off hotel bookings until November 23rd - in turn making a US trip even easier to embark on. For more details, go to http://www.hotelclub.com/promo/30off.

While the "land of the free" might not quite yet be 'free', it's definitely more affordable and Australians are looking to reap the rewards. From entertaining the kids in Disneyland or a shopping expedition with girlfriends in New York, to hitting the ski slopes of Colorado over Christmas or experiencing the bright lights of Las Vegas, one constant remains - the higher the Aussie Dollar the greater the deals for jet-setting Australians!
