By: PPC Solar Construction of solar electric arrays on NM schools Taos and Penasco school districts have awarded the contract for supply of equipment, project design, construction, and installation of large-scale photovoltaic arrays at schools in Northern New Mexico to PPCSolar (a dba of Paradise Power Company). The Taos School District array will be installed at Taos High School, and is a 50kw project. The Penasco project is 50kw and will be installed at Penasco High School. These projects will be the largest solar installations on any secondary school in the Northern New Mexico. Both installations will consist of SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. (of Albuquerque) Both projects will commence by the end of November 2010 and are expected to be commissioned before the end of the year. These systems are funded directly through a grant system initiated last year utilizing funds from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). “With these solar installations, they will not only have direct environmental benefits for the community, they will use locally manufactured equipment, and be incorporated into renewable energy studies programs for the students,” said Daniel Weinman, Chief Executive Officer of PPCSolar.
