Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Recently, TEVECTOS Online Marketing presented on the topic of social media for non-profit organizations (NPO’s) at the Indiana Region I Governor’s Conference on Service and Volunteerism. This conference was 1 of 4 to take place in Indiana, each focusing on ways that NPO’s can improve their marketing strategies and reach.
TEVECTOS Online Marketing is one of over fifty affiliated Independent Internet Marketing Agencies located across the USA, with a parent company SM2 located outside of Seattle, WA.  First and foremost, they are not saying they are social media experts. Honestly though, being as new as social media marketing is, anyone who claims to be an expert just doesn’t know what they are talking about. Everyone is learning, but what TEVECTOS Online Marketing is trying to point out is that there are ways that many organizations can become the successful forerunners in this new communication…and with 940 million social media users and counting, who can ignore the importance of this form of marketing?
As we sit in this constantly evolving world of social media it is easy to get left behind. This has never been more true than with NPO’s. While searching the crowd at the conference for a show of hands, TEVECTOS Online Marketing Executive Director Scott Rieger found that very few had even opened social media accounts for their organizations, and even more knew little to nothing of this new growing medium’s marketing power. Most were completely ignorant of basic social media tools and strategies. This is not saying that NPO’s lack intelligence, it is merely saying that many NPO’s have not been exposed to this new form of marketing and its potential.
Mr. Rieger focused his portion of the conference on informing NPO’s about online video and how this can establish credibility and also optimize SEO. He was quick to assure the crowd that not only is producing online video inexpensive, if not free, but it is also one of the easiest ways to get more viewership. NPO’s now have the ability to do it all, from recording, to editing, to online distribution…even on their often times meager budgets. Some sites such as http://www.YouTube.com even offer special free services to NPO’s that other organizations don’t even have access to.
Video is only one aspect of social media, but it is definitely an important one. One great video can send the number of members on a social media site soaring within a few days time. Rieger pointed out that, “With a good enough video, in some cases this can even happen in hours. This can lead to awareness, donations and volunteers. So many organizations are finding success this way, and those that are not using social media because they feel it’ll pass are wrong, and missing out on an important free or relatively inexpensive marketing tool.”
If you would like to get started on improving your NPO’s social media marketing savvy then go to the TEVECTOS Online Marketing website: http://tevectos.com. You can download the full-version of Rieger’s Powerpoint presentation, complete with tips on how to optimize your social media with video…for cheap. TEVECTOS Online Marketing also offers social media help and services for those organizations that realize the importance of social media, but don’t know how to use it to its full potential…or possibly just don’t have time to mess with it!
