Models Direct: Modelling At 30 Plus

When we hear the word ‘model’ many of us still imagine fresh faced, size zero, teens and twenties females in high fashion images, but is this an accurate portrayal of those who are able to get work in the modelling and entertainment industry?

Nov. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- When we hear the word ‘model’ many of us still imagine fresh faced, size zero, teens and twenties females in high fashion images, but is this an accurate portrayal of those who are able to get work in the modelling and entertainment industry?

While it is true that certain areas are dominated by younger and slimmer looks there are many models and actors, that we all see every day, who do not fall into either category. You only have to think back to the last advert break you saw on television to remember a decidedly more ‘relatable’ representation, and this is a growing trend while manufacturers and advertisers continue to accept what the public want to see on their screens.

Marketing works when viewers or readers can identify with the images presented to them and while there has always been a place for older and ‘real’ models, recent changes of attitude are openning up the industry to a more diverse range of people. Models Direct are delighted about this trend, having always supported models of all ages, sizes and races. This leading agency is contacted every day by clients such as photographers, advertising agencies and TV production companies looking for the right person to feature in their projects and Models Direct are always happy to oblige with a range of looks for them. These days it is not unusual for the client to specify that they are looking for an over 30 as apposed to a young adult.

“Sometimes a client or art director will want to appeal to a certain demographic, for example in an advertising campaign, so they will ask for an older model,” comments Damian O’Connor, MD of Models Direct. “At other times they are simply trying to portray a mix of people in the photo shoot, both young and old.”

If you are over thirty and thought you may have lost the chance to try modelling it may not be the case! While this is still a competitive industry it is quite possible that you could be the next Models Direct model to have some fun making extra cash and fulfilling a desire to get in front of the camera!

Good luck.
