Cult Film Actress Erica Gavin Set To Star In New Online Show - "SHUT-INS"

Nov. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Cult film actress Erica Gavin is set to star in director Michael Frost’s upcoming web series THE SHUT-INS. Blending scripted melodrama with comedic improvising, THE SHUT-INS promises to deliver a dose of don’t-miss-it experimental entertainment. Ms. Gavin and Helsinki Productions are currently in the pre-production stage and are aiming to begin shooting in mid-December 2010.

Says producer Charles Wright of Helsinki Productions, “right now, Michael and Erica are working out the characterization to get it just right. But really, she’s a spot on natural when it comes to this kind of thing. It really turns her on to perform, to act, and to create a completely different character. I’m looking forward to filming and getting it online!”

Ms. Gavin, widely known as The Vixen from Russ Meyer’s film of outrageous sexuality, gained international notoriety when VIXEN (1968) received the first ever X-Rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (M.P.A.A.). Soon after, Erica was starring in Meyer’s over-the-top cultural lodestone BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1970). Her last major film was Jonathan Demme’s directorial debut CAGED HEAT (1974).

After a nearly 34 year absence from Hollywood, Erica is back on the scene, starring in the featured role as The Mother in Michael Frost’s award-winning short film 3 STORIES ABOUT EVIL (2008), granting numerous interviews, and keeping busy with her very personal website THE REAL ERICA GAVIN at EricaGavin.com.

Hot from this year’s festival circuit with THE HARVEY GIRL FROM SHANGHAI, THE SHUT-INS marks Mr. Frost’s return to episodic shorts since last year’s SAMM & MIKE series with collaborators Samm Hill and Charles Wright. In addition to directing THE SHUT-INS, Michael Frost and Helsinki Productions are currently in pre-production with the feature film MINUS EIGHT and are developing various entertainment properties for theatrical and televised distribution.
