Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, Georgia. – On Friday, October 29, MedShare shipped a 40-foot container of requested medical supplies to Hopital Bienfaisance de Pignon in Pignon, Haiti to support the ongoing medical treatment of earthquake survivors, cholera patients, and Hurricane Tomas victims. Hospital beds in the shipment were procured and donated by the Catholic Medical Mission Board.

“Since the earthquake, we’ve treated many people from different economic backgrounds. Because of the supplies we received from MedShare, it’s easier for us to treat all patients,” said Dr. Jean-Jumeau Batsch, Hopital Bienfaisance de Pignon.

The shipment contained 50 hospital beds, 50 mattresses, and six laptop computers, which will be put to immediate use caring for the earthquake victims and low-income families in Haiti.  This is MedShare’s third container shipment to Hopital Bienfaisance de Pignon since the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit in January; the first two containers carried emergency medical relief supplies and equipment for the hospital and were sent in January and May.

“Ongoing earthquake patient care combined with the recent cholera outbreak and Hurricane Tomas crises mean that the medical needs in Haiti are still overwhelming. By working with hospitals like Hopital Bienfaisance de Pignon, MedShare continues to provide for the widespread medical aid needs in Haiti,” said A.B. Short, CEO and Co-Founder of MedShare.

Since the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, MedShare has sent 27 requested medical aid shipments to organizations and hospitals performing disaster relief work throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
