Nov. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Auspit Rotisseries Competition BBQ Team Places 31st in Chicken out of 499 teams
Championship barbecue returned to its roots when “Jonny Rotisserie and the Auspiteers” made its debut in style at the American Royal BBQ Competition in Kansas City October 1-3, 2010.   Out of 499 teams, the Auspit competition BBQ team placed 31st in Chicken and #223 overall.  For a rookie team competing against the world’s top BBQ cooks while using merely rotisserie spits over an open fire, this was a tremendous achievement.

The American Royal is the world’s largest BBQ competition, making it one of the toughest cooking contests on the planet.  The team participated in “the Open” event on the Sunday which was open to all takers, including the 138 elite teams that had also competed in an invitation-only event the day before.  A 31st place finish meant beating out many of the invited teams which were only there because they were grand champions at other contests during the year.

Auspit (http://www.AuspitBBQ.com) is a lightweight, portable, cordless rotisserie which can turn up to 18 pounds of delicious meat, vegetables and seafood using just two D-sized batteries.  It is not the type of device one usually considers when thinking of competitive BBQ.  Most teams use industrial-sized, sophisticated cooking ovens which are beyond the reach of the average outdoor cooking enthusiast.

The Jonny Rotisserie team entered all four of the main meat categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder and beef brisket, plus the extra side categories of potatoes, vegetables, and dessert using Auspit rotisseries as well as the Auspit Spitmate rotisserie baskets and Rib-o-Lator rotisserie tray accessories (http://www.auspitbbq.com/accessories.html#spitmate) plus a Dutch oven to round out their cooking arsenal.  A video of their setup in action can be seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGrrR6kSBoI

In the midst of celebrating the results, the clearly intoxicated team captain Jonny Rotisserie commented relatively soberly, “We finished at or near the bottom in contests earlier this year as we worked to learn about the world of competition barbecue, so we can’t believe we were able to place as high as we did here.  Yahoooo!”

So simple, so delicious, Auspit is an innovative battery-powered rotisserie that can be used from the back woods to the back yard. It holds up to 18 pounds and two D-sized batteries drive the motor up to 90 hours. Auspit accessories are unique worldwide.
