Le Meridien Amman Commemorates World Food Programme by Distributing Food Parcels in Karak

Nov. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Le Meridien Amman, a member of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, celebrated the United Nations World Food Programme in cooperation with the Jordanian Food Bank, emerging from the Jordanian Alliance Against Hunger, headed by her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bent Talal, which was on Saturday, 16th of October.

This initiative focused on fighting hunger and participating in programmes that support nourishment through Le Méridien Amman’s staff donation of their meal on that day, favour of students, parents, teachers and school board members in Shihan School in Karak Governorate.  The food parcels contained all the necessary nutrients for a complete, balanced and healthy meal. The hotel associates also donated money to purchase basic nutritional items, in cooperation with the Jordanian Food Bank, and will be distributed to less fortunate families.

Sewar Sawalha, Director of Public Relations commented on Le Meridien Amman’s initiative by saying: "We must join forces, institutions and individuals, to create positive change in people's lives, through supporting efforts to defeat hunger, and extending assistance to less fortunate members of the community, especially children."

The theme of this year’s observance is “United against Hunger”, chosen to recognise the efforts made in the fight against world hunger at national, regional and international levels.
