Nov. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Author Jan Kuśmirek's controversial series of thrillers viewing the events and personalities of World War Two from a Polish perspective continues in gripping new novel, Stolen Lives.

Renegade freelance secret agent Tadek “Teddy” Labden” is on a post-war mission to halt the expansion of the Soviet Union and threat of communism, routing out Soviet moles planted in the British Intelligence services.

After a crossing of the Russian border ends in capture, he finds himself aiding the mysterious Witek in his plot to assassinate dictator Josef Stalin before he can launch a third world war.

For Labden, it's personal – the Russians have occupied his homeland of Poland and enslaved or murdered its proud people. But could they have done it without the complicity of Britain and America?

Since he first appeared in 2009's The Engineer, Teddy Labden has been embraced by the media as the “Polish James Bond”. His creator, meanwhile, has courted praise and controversy for daring to expose “unpalatable truths” about the Allied Forces' betrayal of Poland.

Meticulously researched and memorably written, Stolen Lives is a superior spy novel that is unflinching in its depiction of wartime atrocities and the loss of life through intolerance, ignorance and sheer indifference.

Stolen Lives is the middle part of a planned trilogy, Chronicles of Love and Honour, published through Derwen. The series will be completed next year with the release of White & Red.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jan Kuśmirek, 64, bases his series of wartime thrillers on his own experiences and those of his family as Polish émigrés. Through his father, who had served in the Polish Underground, Jan had his eyes opened at an early age to the atrocities perpetrated upon the Poles. Jan enjoyed a highly successful career within the cosmetics industry and is regarded as one of the world's leading clinical aromatherapists. He was encouraged to write fiction by his crime novelist uncle Kenneth Royce, who instilled in him a keen attention to detail that is reflected in his work. In 2008, Jan was granted Polish citizenship, something the writer describes as a “debt of honour” to his father and ancestors. For more information on the author, visit: www.jankusmirek.com
