By: Plum PR & Events Grammy-Nominated Singer and Songwriter Raheem DeVaughn is set to headline “The Soul Experience Tour,” which is slated to hit Detroit on Friday, December 3. The concert, which will also include special guests Kindred The Family Soul, Vina Mills and Monica Blaire marks the first time that DeVaughn will headline a concert in Detroit. “Detroit is the hometown of Barry Gordy, Motown and the Queen, Aretha Franklin, someone who has always been a huge supporter of mine,” said DeVaughn. “My homie Dwele and the late great J. Dilla are also from Detroit, so that night when I perform it’s definitely going to be for those that wave the soul flag for timeless music.” DeVaughn will perform along with his full-band and will rock out to songs off of his latest album The Love & War Masterpeace, which debuted in March and includes the hit single “Bulletproof,” Tickets, starting at $36 (plus applicable service fees) are on sale now at The Music Hall Box Office and on www.ticketmaster.com About Raheem DeVaughn The son of renowned jazz musician Abdul Wadud, DeVaughn grew up in Maryland and cut his teeth performing in clubs throughout the Washington, D.C. area. After several indie releases, which he sold on the streets and at his shows, the crooner signed with Jive Records and dropped The Love Experience, his slept-on 2005 debut. DeVaughn broke through commercially with 2007’s Love Behind the Melody, which earned him two Grammy nods, two BET J Awards for “Best Male R&B Artist” and “Album of the Year” as well as a prime slot on tour with Jill Scott.
