Follow on Google News | You are what you wearThey are just rubber bands, and yet the world has gone bonkers over Silly Bandz. The silicone bracelets come in a variety of rainbow colors.
By: Eileen “I think they are pretty cute,” said senior Emily Anile, who has approximately 40 Silly Bandz. “It’s fun to see all the different types and shapes people have.” silly bandz have also become a popular but banned item in schools across the country. They have been banned in states such as New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, and even a local middle school, A. L. Stanback. The bracelets were deemed as a distraction in the classroom because students would play with them and flick them like rubber bands. But despite the ban in some schools, other schools have used Silly Bandz to their advantage; teachers hand them out as rewards for good grades and use them for fundraisers. They’ve been spotted on wrist, ankles, and even on fingers. Everywhere you look you cannot escape them. They are the silly bandz.. silly bandz are a brand of silicone rubber bands formed into shapes including animals, objects, and letters. Being dozens of shapes and colors, they can be found on almost anyone’s wrist or ankle. These bands function like any normal bracelet, but as soon as they are taken off, they revert back to their original shapes. The colors and shapes are what make these so fun. They come in every color and shapes are anything and everything. Snowflakes, flowers, peace signs, animals, even words. There is a shape to represent all areas of interest, and they are collected and traded. This idea first originated in 2002 by a Japanese design team. Their original plan had been to design a more environmentally sustainable rubber as a office product. Soon a man named Robert Croak discovered them on a business trip, and decided to re-purpose them as a kids fashion accessory. This idea quickly kicked off in 2010 and they are now s sold in over 8,00 stores in America. But the question still remains: what is the deal with silly bandz? Freshman Victoria Garcia answered this question by pointing to her wrist and said, “They’re kinda like a trend; they make a goofy gift, but they are kinda distracting. Everywhere I go I hear ooh shapes; let me see! A lot of people are buying them and probably in a year or so people are going to get tired of them.”You can get them at http://www.toptoys2trade.com/ # # # We are a wholesaler in China, specilized in light industry, such as cloth, shoes, toys.
