Graff Chevrolet Dealer Introduces the New 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- So much time and dedication has been put into improving the 2011 Silverado 2500HD. The most significant change of the 2500HD is the serious upgrade of the Duramax diesel.  The 6.6-liter Duramax provides for an extra 32 horsepower with an additional 105 lb-ft of torque over last year’s engine.

Additional feature of the new package includes an enhanced Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission. The Allison consists of a tap up/down driver shift control along with an elevated idle mode to speed the warm-up process. According to GM, they stated that the transmission assists 6.6-liter 2500 HD models accelerate to 60 mph in less than 9 seconds, a 0.3 second improvement over the outgoing model.

Standard Silverado 2500HD comes with a 6.0-liter V8 engine rated at 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque coupled with an automaker’s 6L90 six-speed automatic. The new camshaft profile has the ability to increase low-end torque for better off-the-line performance and better high-altitude trailering.

The New 2011 Silverado HD offers new exhaust brake system that uses the turbine control of the turbocharger and the engine’s compression to generate backpressure to slow the truck without using the brakes or transmission. It’s one of the new additions that GM is extremely proud of. The purpose of the new system is to work more efficiently and quieter in higher altitudes to provide a serene overall experience for drivers.  

Even the brakes received an upgrade to a four-channel ABS system on single rear-wheel models and a three-channel system on dualies. With the box tube design, the frame-mounted hitch is now stronger and is able to support 16,000 lbs.

Unlike previous models, the 2500HD models get a two-stage leaf spring. The asymmetrical leaf is now larger and wide as well.

Interior features of the 2500HD offer advanced technology including Bluetooth, USB inputs, rear cameras with or without navigation, and navigation through a built-in system or OnStar’s turn-by-turn directions. The Onstar feature requires a subscription and the other may require annual updates.

Optional interior features are available. Such features include heated leather, navigation, expensive-looking opaque shade for the moonroof, and different dashboards.

The 2011 Silverado HD is available in five wheelbases in trim: a Regular Cab long bed, an Extended Cab with standard bed, an Extended Cab with long bed, a Crew Cab with standard bed, and a Crew Cab with long bed. Different cabs offer different cargo room. Regular cabs can fit up to three, extended cabs appeal towards smaller families, and the crew cab is suitable for larger families.
