Nov. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- International digital arts festival NEoN, presents an exciting evening of performance, music, sound and art installations for its eagerly awaited closing weekend event, Party in the Car Park to celebrate the NEoN festival week. The event will take place in the unusual venue of the 6th and 7th levels of the Green Market multi storey car park, Dundee on Saturday 13 November, 2010, between 8pm and 12am midnight.

NEoN will transform the 6th and 7th levels of the multi storey car park in the heart of Dundee into an event space of stages celebrating the visual and digital arts in various forms. The impressive and diverse line up performing at the unlikely venue will undoubtedly deliver an entertaining and memorable evening for all involved.

Chair of the NEoN organising committee, Donna Holford-Lovell explained,

"This is something I have always wanted to see happen in Dundee – some kind of public arts event in a multi storey carpark. They are such great venues, a blank canvas for us to play with and the acoustics are fantastic. The NEoN festival was the ideal platform, so I asked the Dundee City Council for permission and they were very enthusiastic. Dundee City council have been great, they are so open minded about trying new things for the benefit of the Dundee public and the arts scene here. We are looking forward to celebrating NEoN in such a great way with the Dundee public together with those involved with the arts."

NEoN is thrilled to announce a plethora of exciting acts set to perform at the quirky venue which will entertain the crowd by showcasing various art forms ranging from alternative acoustics, interpretive dance, live electronic and DJ sessions, live art installations, and everything in between.

Performances on the Main Stage will include a DJ session by the talented RHL and Jon Wright, together with performances from local Dundee bands Fear Wasabi and Man Without Machines while Guerilla Gallery will draw upon arts creatives.

A band which mixes alternative acoustics with live electronics, Fear Wasabi is firmly rooted in the creative digital and visual arts and music scene in Scotland. Recent collaborations with visual artist Roderick Buchanan to produce soundtracks for short films have cemented their position at the forefront of the creative cultural industries. Their passion and energy is sure to produce an electric performance to excite the crowds.

Joining Fear Wasabi on the Main Stage are local gems Man Without Machines. The unsigned band focus their creative energies on producing popular Alternative -Electro music. The band features Adam Lockhart of Spare Snare, Andrew Mitchell (Hazey Janes) and Val Campbell. Having recently enjoyed successful airtime on BBC Scotland with great reception, together with comparisons to Devo, The Human League and Sparks, Man Without Machines' fast paced electro will certainly form one of the musical highlights of the NEoN Party in the Car Park.

Gearing up to create a memorable night, NEoN presents the appearance of Guerrilla Gallery a collective showcasing work by poets, programmers, photographers, artists, designers, film-makers, animators, illustrators exhibited alongside live drawing, music, and dance performances. One of the most exciting features of the Guerrilla Gallery is their invitation to all creatives to submit their own work to be exhibited prior to the NEoN event, while enabling artists and exhibitors to respond to all the goings on during the event via the bank of overhead projectors, and using the innovative interactive animation software, Tagtool. The Guerilla Gallery's involvement in the NEoN Party in the Car Park event is set to stimulate creativity among the audience while showcasing fresh talent.

The Van Stage will host innovative and inspirational art and sound installations together with dance and percussion performances. Combining the theme of the industrial venue with the overarching concept of the NEoN digital arts festival, the Van Stage will host performances by the Noise Club and Scottish chip tune musician, Edward Shallow who will be mixing live with a laptop, gamebot, keyboard, accordion and perhaps a ukulele, together with performances by Dundee's hip hop dance crew, Pro Styles Crew; free-form improvised in-the-moment drumming from Street Drum Circle and an interactive performance piece by You be the Voyeur which combines dance with wearable technology.

In addition to the transport themed stage, Yann Seznec will exhibit his lighting installation, ETA, in the back of a transit van, and furthermore, the event will feature a Bike Light Disco to demonstrate the link between energy and creativity and the arts.

The NEoN Party in the Car Park on Saturday, November 13, 2010, is certain to offer the perfect conclusion to the NEoN digital arts festival delivering an enjoyable and entertaining evening for all those in attendance.

On site facilities include a bar, food outlets, toilets and friendly first aid volunteers.

The event is for over 16s only and is free to attend, however spaces are limited and so the event is ticketed.
