Follow on Google News | Celebrating and rewarding tropical expertise and innovation in Tropical North QueenslandThe Tropical Innovation Awards, to be held in Cairns in November 2010, aim to discover the best and most innovative ideas across Tropical North Queensland and present a true reflection of tropical creativity to the world.
The awards will offer the opportunity for innovators to realise the potential commercial value of their invention or innovation and contribute to the export and employment potential of the region through a number of award categories, including Emerging Innovation, Tropical Innovation, Eco Innovation, Innovation of the Year and the People’s Choice Award. Fourteen applications have been chosen from the pool of applicants for the People’s Choice category which is open to a public vote until 3pm on Thursday 4 November. Prizes include $25,000 in cash for the various categories and many valuable in-kind prizes. According to Robert Buhrke, the AIC’s Innovation Coach in North Queensland and part of the awards steering committee, the awards present a unique opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses across the region to gain recognition for their innovations: Dr John Kapeleris, Deputy CEO of the AIC is one of the three judges of the awards. ”We are proud to be part of the Tropical Innovation Awards and to be associated with such an innovative region producing a number of unique products and services.
