Senior Friendly Features: Fully Functioning Remote: ★★★★☆ Sound Quality: ★★★½☆ Easy of Use: ★★★★☆ Construction: ★★★☆☆

Other Features: If you own more than one iPhone, iPod, or other music player and ever fight over which one’s music plays over the speakers, you will love this device. It is a speaker system with quality sound to fill a room, but features two charging docks for iPods/iPhones. Add to that the ability to use what they call Music Mix to be able so choose a percentage of each to use for playing back (that’s right, it plays music from BOTH devices in sequence and can do so asymmetrically), and you have the recipe for either a more eclectic music mix or at least less fights over who gets to play and charge their iPhone.

There’s a built-in USB port that allows charging and playing from other devices, e.g. Droid or Blackberry phones. The M202 is magnetically shielded, so your phone won’t experience interference and will be fully functional while charging and/or playing.

The front of the M202 is simple. A tiny LCD to show source, otherwise nothing but speaker. There’s two free apps for the iPhone/iPod that allow control over the music mix and a programmable alarm. The downside of this setup is that you can’t pick a specific playlist on either device, it plays from your entire music collection on either. We found this a little limiting, though it may be available in a future update in the app. The included wireless remote isn’t the simplest thing to use, but not overly complicated once you spend a little time with it. It magnetically attaches to the back of the device for easy and neat storage.

The Altec Lansing M202 is available on Amazon.com.

Price Range: Medium
