Wine and spirits are now available at dealer cost across the country. This new platform is introduced by the U.S. Wine Association. They have taken an evolutionary step in the wine and spirits industry, one which advocates for the consumer.

U.S. Wine Association to acquire wine & spirits at dealer cost for its members nationwide
New York, New York, November 3, 2010-Jonathan Frank today announced the launch of the U.S. Wine Association (“USWA”). The USWA is a consumer alcohol buying group that acquires cases of wine and spirits on behalf of its members at dealer cost and ships orders directly to their doorstep. No other company has ever leveled this approach in the wine and spirits industry. This service is currently available to individuals across the country.
“The core goal of the U.S. Wine Association is to save our members money,” Jonathan Frank, Chief Operating Officer, explains. “Our approach in achieving this goal takes an evolutionary step for the industry by introducing a new buying dynamic. The introduction of this type of paradigm shift has been elusive in the wine and spirits industry and it is this type of shift that leads to progress.”
Over 190,000 wines and 30,000 liquors are available on the USWA’s site. They make no money on the sale of the actual product, but rather from membership fees and advertising. The cost of a membership is $99 per year. With product priced at dealer cost, members recover the cost of the membership fee in one or two purchases. This takes a 4% transaction fee and shipping costs into account, for dkiyt which the member pays. Members of the USWA can purchase whatever wine or spirit they choose whenever they choose, and there is also no cap on the quantity members can buy.
Industry insiders are eager to follow the USWA’s progress. The industry is ripe for change and the prices are right, particularly given the country’s current economic condition. Making wholesale prices available at the retail level, coupled with the availability of such a profound range of product, establishes the USWA as an association advocating for the consumer. While we have seen similar models available in other industries, nothing of the like has surfaced in the wine and spirits industry, which is notorious for remaining stagnant with respect to this type of progress.
In addition to acquiring wine and spirits on behalf of its members, the USWA will periodically offer special deals on various goods and services such as travel at well-below market costs. It will also be unveiling its corporate program for companies nationwide in the near future. Currently the USWA is in talks to partner-up with several companies, membership organizations and lifestyle groups.
The U.S. Wine Association is based in Harlem, New York. Its mission statement makes salient that it is committed to its community and contributing to charitable causes. To that end, the USWA is dedicated to hiring from within Harlem and giving to the community in general. The USWA will expand its charitable scope as the association grows; doing so is an important part of their mission. The founder of the USWA is a seasoned entrepreneur with significant experience in the hospitality industry. He conceived the idea for this service over a year ago.
