Good Shepherd Medical Center to Use Access UDP To Get Perinatal Documents into MEDITECH SCA

Data is typically non-standardized across clinical platforms, and so often unusable in its native state. Getting clinical data into electronic health records (EHRs) requires costly programmatic interfaces or error-prone, time-consuming scanning and indexing.

To solve such challenges, Good Shepherd Medical Center, based in Hermiston, Ore. selected Universal Document Portal (UDP) from Access, the world’s leading provider of electronic forms (e-forms) software. This versatile tool captures output from clinical systems and devices, standardizes it and interfaces it paperlessly into patients’ EHRs.

Good Shepherd Medical Center plans to use Access UDP in two ways.

First, Access UDP will capture documents from the obstetrics (OB) department’s GE Centricity perinatal system, convert them into PDFs and auto-index them in EHRs in MEDITECH Client Server, via MEDITECH Scanning and Archiving (SCA).

This automated, paperless process will enable the HIM department to avoid scanning and data indexing for perinatal patients’ records, and will help boost follow-up care and patient safety by ensuring such documents are associated with the correct EHRs.
