New Life Pastoral Counseling Takes Premarital Counseling To New Level
Out with old counseling ways, in with relatable premarital education. Giving couples the tools they need to succeed.
Nov. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Premarital Counseling is one of the top ways to avoid divorce. Given our economic climate, now more than ever, couples need to discuss their plans. With sex, money and communication being the top reasons for divorce, no subject can be taboo. Angela Chester, DDiv., said, “Couples need to plan their lives together, they shouldn’t just live day-to-day hoping things go correctly. They need to discuss the positive and negatives aspects of a relationship.”
According to The State of Our Union, a joint publication of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia and the Center for Marriage and Families at the Institute for American Values, the American divorce rate today is nearly twice that of 1960, but has declined since hitting the highest point in our history in the early 1980’s. For the average couple marrying for the first time in recent years, the lifetime probability of divorce or separation remains between 40 and 50 percent.
Dr. Chester said, “The divorce rate is alarming. People plan all the time, yet when it comes to marriage, they are afraid to talk. In order to have the best marriage possible, you must have the correct tools. Premarital Counseling gives you the proper tools.”
At New Life Pastoral Counseling, premarital counseling is not approached in the same manner as it was 20 years ago. New Life Pastoral Counseling takes into account the age of the couple, time restrictions, their computer savvy and makes each session a time that is reflective, informative and fun. No more sitting across from each other pointing fingers. “
“Counseling doesn’t need to be boring to be effective.” said Dr. Chester. As a thirty-something married woman, she knows firsthand that you need to make the sessions exciting. Dr. Chester said, “New Life Pastoral Counseling is successful because we are able to communicate on each person’s level. Facebook and Twitter have your attention all day. Boring just doesn’t work for couples between the ages of 20 and 45. Boring wouldn’t work for me.”
New Life Pastoral Counseling is an advocate for strong marriages. Teleseminars and webinars are planned throughout the upcoming year, discussing topics such as faith, finance, romance, household roles and much more.
