Brainwave’s Beer Bonanza

Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Did you know that you can taste everything from lemons and peaches to toffee and chocolate in a beer? And what about the fact that the hop is a relatively recent addition to British Beer?

Maybe one of the most quirky events of the year, the children’s charity, Brainwave, is arranging an exclusive beer tasting at the Farmers Club on 30 November where people can find out a little more about the complex world of beer, where the flavours come from and a little bit of the history of beer.  So not only can you come for an entertaining and different evening but help a charity too.

The tasting is being undertaken by Christine Cryne, who chaired CAMRA’s 2010 Champion of Britain and is a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers. Christine said ‘Many people find it surprising that a woman is talking about beer. However, it was women that used to brew the beer; the licensing sessions are called the Brewster’s’ sessions, which is a lady brewer so a woman having a love of beer is not that unusual. I really enjoy showing people that beer is just as multifaceted as wine. My grandmother was a beer drinker so perhaps it just runs in the family!’

Priced at only £28 per ticket, including a buffet, it offers a really cost effective way of entertaining clients or just treating someone. The doors open from 6pm with an introductory drink with the tasting starting at 6.30pm.  The Farmers’ Club was founded in 1842 and is a private members’ club that usually not open to the public. It can be found at 3 Whitehall Court, London SW1A 2EL; nearest tube: Embankment.

The event is being supported by Greene King and Fuller’s breweries and will feature their beers plus others from small craft breweries from around the country.

Tickets are available from Isobel Kerry: isobelkerry@brainwave.org.uk ; 07872 548 450 or download an application form from www.brainwave.org.uk
