Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Stonehurst Place today announced it will host two military service couples this Veteran’s Day in conjunction with B&Bs For Vets.   The organization, now in its second year, has expanded to include the support of more than 850 inns across the U.S. that invite veterans and active military personnel to stay for free in observance of Veteran's Day.  Service members from all branches of the armed forces will stay Wednesday night, November 10th, and wake up to celebrate Veteran's Day, November 11th.

Stonehurst Place is Atlanta’s first EarthCraft certified bed and breakfast inn and features deluxe rooms and suites with gourmet breakfast served to guests each morning.  In addition to a large collection of books coveted by guests for their interesting and varied subject matter, the inn juxtaposes museum-quality art with family photos of the original owners and their son, William Burch Hinman.

“William Burch Hinman served our country in World War One, dying from exposure after his ship, the steamship Rochester, was sunk this day November 2, in 1917,” said interior designer and owner Barb Shadomy.  “Ninety-three years ago, at just 22 years of age, William Hinman set sail not knowing he would never return home to his family here at Stonehurst.  Somehow, the timing of all this is quite poignant.”

Stonehurst Place is the only Atlanta area bed and breakfast participating in the program, and among fourteen Georgia inns welcoming military guests free on Veteran’s Day.

“We just wanted to say thank you to the courageous men and women from our armed forces," says Kathleen Panek, owner of West Virginia’s Gillum House B&B and original founder of the nationwide program.  "These are some trying times for anyone serving or who has served and a good night's rest is our way to say, thank you."
