Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- From goats and sheep to horses and pigs, field animals at Wood Green Animal Shelters in Godmanchester are preparing to tuck into a 37 stone pumpkin.
The giant pumpkin was kindly donated to the Shelter by staff at Budgens in St Ives.
The shop in Sheep Market, St Ives, was one of three stores across the country to be in receipt of one of the giant pumpkins.
After holding a ‘guess the weight of the pumpkin’ competition in store, manager Stephen Male decided to donate the pumpkin to Wood Green.
Mr Male said: “The pumpkin was simply too big to carve so we thought that as Wood Green is a charity which rehomes field animals, they would be able to put the pumpkin to best use.”
Field Section Manager at Wood Green, Deborah Wild said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at Budgens for their generous donation. We rely heavily on donations of food for our field animals and given the size of this pumpkin, it is sure to keep our animals full for a few days.”
