Nov. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Hamburg, N.Y. – There’s nothing like a day at the beach – in December. Special Olympics New York will hold its annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. Former Buffalo Bills player and NFL Hall of Famer Joe DeLamielleure will be one of many participants making the chilling plunge into Hamburg Town Beach.

Registration for the event is open at www.polarplungeny.org where participants can create their own Polar Plunge Web page for friends, family and co-workers to donate online.  The 2009 Polar Plunge raised more than $130,000 for Special Olympics New York and all proceeds from the event go towards Special Olympics and its athletes.

Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100, which qualifies them to receive an official Polar Plunge sweatshirt. The more money a participant raises for the event, the more prizes available to win.
