Nov. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Kabul, Afghanistan - Oct 30, 2010 -- Users in Afghanistan will benefit from the low-latency, satellite Internet connectivity deployed by NEDA Telecommunications. O3B Networks, as funded by principle players including Liberty Global, Inc., Google Inc., and HSBC Principal Investments, announced the deployment of the first Medium Earth Orbit (MEA) satellite Internet network with Ka-band and low –latency for NEDA in Afghanistan.

With the satellite Internet network, consumers and businesses in Afghanistan will receive improved Internet connectivity. NEDA Telecommunications has established a multi-million dollar agreement with O3B Networks.

Paul Shaw, CEO of NEDA remarked that”O3B Networks allows us to significantly enhance our ISP services.” With an ever increasing demand for improved Internet services throughout Afghanistan the latest developments in satellite Internet will ensure that consumers can fully use modern day Web 2.0 applications.

According to Shaw, “…lower costs are proving to be a key factor in economic and social development.” In light of the cost effectiveness of the new low-latency connection to the Internet more businesses will be able to grow their online network connections. They will be able to fully utilize the Internet as resource for marketing, research, and branding. With the relationship between NEDA and O3B Network regarding the satellite network it is hoped that Afghanistan will be able to compete on an equal footing with other countries.

John Finney, responsible for Marketing and EVP Sales for O3B Networks, noted that NEDA is able to connect to the worldwide fibre Internet architecture without the extensive capital lay-out normally associated with such. NEDA now has a cellular backhaul to numerous towers across the landscape of Afghanistan ensuring affordable high speed satellite Internet and wireless connectivity for its consumers. This will inevitably help businesses in the country to save on costs and increase Internet usage.

The O3B Network satellite Internet global backbone for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in developing countries ensures cost efficient, high-speed alternatives for ISPs for the connection of WiMax and 3G to networks around the globe. The potential benefits for the medical, commercial, industrial, and educational sectors are immense.

NEDA Telecommunications registered in 2003 as the first ISP in Afghanistan and has grown to be the largest Wireless & Satellite Internet Service Provider in the country. Visit http://www.neda.af for more information.
