Author Kevin Gerard Invited to Eighteenth Annual Humboldt County Author Festival

The Friends of the Redwood Libraries, the Humboldt County Office of Education, and the Humboldt County Library have invited San Diego author Kevin Gerard to participate in the 2011 Humboldt County Author Festival.

Oct. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- In its eighteenth year, the Humboldt County Author Festival is one of the largest in the country. Twenty-five authors have been invited to participate in the festival, which will include two days of school visits, author receptions, banquets, and autographing parties.

"I'm honored to be invited," says Mr. Gerard. "I received my masters' degree from Humboldt State University. I've always told my wife what a beautiful place Humboldt County is, and now I'll be able to show her."

The owners of Crying Cougar Press expressed their exuberance openly. "We feel delighted," says Sara Katz, public relations specialist, "the Conor and the Crossworlds fantasy adventure series is bound for greatness. It's being read in six countries and that number is climbing. This isn't the first author festival Mr. Gerard has been invited to, and we're certain it won't be the last. To be included in such a prestigious event is a real milestone for us."

Mr. Gerard visited Fortuna Middle School in Humboldt County in the Spring of 2010. Jana Reveles, the school librarian, played an instrumental role in his appearance at the school and in his invitation to the festival.

"I called Jana out of the blue in October just to see how everything was going in Fortuna," says Mr. Gerard. "We talked for a while and she mentioned the author festival. She suggested I contact JoAnn Bauer at the Humboldt County Library. I did, we exchanged e-mails, and I received the invitation. I couldn't be happier."

The Humboldt County Author Festival begins Wednesday, October 19, and ends Saturday, October 22. For details contact the Humboldt County Library or Crying Cougar Press.
