DotconnectAfrica will support New African gTLDs!

Nov. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Mauritius, Africa :   In an announcement that followed ICANN's public comment for Developing Economies and the New gTLD Program on 11 November 2010,   http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-11nov10-en.htm , DCA reinforced its support for new African gTLDs.

DCA had already  announced its support for new African gTLDs under its mandate of sponsoring the dotafrica gTLD, in ICANN Brussles.  http://www.prlog.org/10803421-progress-towards-africa-at-icann-38-in-brussels-the-capital-of-europe.html

DCA has demonstrated this by sponsoring a delegation from Africa in support of the community based gTLD initiatives and in taking part in the drafting and organizing committee that presented the African position for gTLD.  DCA's Executive Director, also made a strong statement towards support of new gTLDs not only by ICANN but also DCA's interest in the same.    www.prlog.org/10803421-progress-towards-africa-at-icann-38-in-brussels-the-capital-of-europe.html

The African position was part of a multi-stakeholder Working Group that was mandated by the ICANN's Board Resolutions [No:20] at Nairobi, March 2010 meeting requesting stakeholders to form a Working Group to develop mechanisms to providing support to applicants requiring assistance in applying for and operating new gTLDs.,which asked ICANN’s stakeholder community.
