Oct. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Football is well known and embraced by students and adults alike in the United States. However, this is not the case in Canada, where CBC Radio broadcasters recently indicated that football attendance at CFL games here is very low. In fact, it has been suggested that Canadians are losing an appreciation for the Canadian Football League due to a lack of understanding of the game.

As part of their Urban Culture Track leading private Christian school, Cornerstone Montessori Prep School, has announced it has made a commitment to educate students about football by taking their classroom to the CFL at a football game and social evening for students, parents and teachers. The game is scheduled Friday Evening, October 29th beginning at 7 PM. The game that evening will feature the Montreal Alouettes vs. the Toronto Argonauts and should prove an exciting and educational professional football experience for all in attendance.

According to Peter Hogarth, a full-time Cornerstone staffer and former professional CFL player with both the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Saskatchewan Rough Riders, "this opportunity represents a wonderful way to celebrate what our Canadian culture is all about. At the same time, it is a great hands on educational opportunity that will nurture a sense of community as our students, their parents and their teachers come together with the CFL to gain a better understanding of the game of football."

Hogarth will join the group in the stands where he can teach those present just what each play is about while it is happening. He adds “I can’t think of a better way to convey the strategy and excitement of football than to do so at an actual game instead of in the classroom.”

Cornerstone Montessori Prep School is well known and highly respected for helping students develop a love for learning, accountability, time management, responsibility, self-motivation and self-discipline--skills that are necessary in high school, university and in adult life.
