By: Treloar Disabled School and College Brewer House at the College. On Thursday 21st October, the new Bishop of Basingstoke, Peter Hancock, came to officially licence Mark as Chaplain in a small service at the Treloar College Chapel. Many aspects of the Trust were represented at the service: Tony Reid, Treloar’s CEO and Michael Del Mar, Chairman of Trustees, who presented Mark to the Bishop. Readings were given by Victoria Millett, President of the Student Council and Karen Booker, Co-ordinator of Religious Education at the School. The Chapel was decorated with flowers, grown and arranged by a number of students at the College, and the order of service itself was produced by the Ian Karten Centre. Before the service, Bishop Peter was given a tour of the College, including the Assistive Technology department, the domestic independence classroom and Brewer House. Bishop Peter is looking forward to getting to know more about Treloar’s, as he settles into his new role, and might even make an appearance at 'Friday live!'. Treloar Trust provides education, care, therapy, medical support and independence training to young people with physical disabilities from all over the UK and overseas. It’s aim is to prepare these young people for adult life, giving them the confidence and skills to achieve their full potential. Founded in 1907 Treloar’s is a registered charity with a turnover of some £19 million. Most of it’s income comes from fees paid by the local authority or, occasionally, private funding, which vary according to the level of support and specialist equipment needed by an individual student. Treloar’s also needs to fundraise for a further £2 million a year to remain at the forefront of education and services for physically disabled people.
