Oct. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- As recovering economies seek to generate employment, spur innovation, and remain competitive globally, entrepreneurship has rightly been recognized as the engine of future growth. Today, its promise is more compelling than ever. With the advent of mobile applications, digital media, and social networks, an entrepreneur can launch a startup and market his product worldwide with nothing except a PC and an internet connection.

This promise is starting to materialize for the MENA region. We now have a date for the launch of a PlugandPlay Incubator in Cairo - an important step in creating a world-class entrepreneurial ecosystem. PlugandPlay will house hundreds of entrepreneurs in the next three years, while TechWadi’s focus will be on mentoring, financing and accelerating the growth of the most promising start-ups.

To celebrate and deliberate, TechWadi invites executives and high impact entrepreneurs to join on October 25 2010 for an open dialogue on how to make the initiative a success. The event, in partnership with TIEC, will draw hundreds of entrepreneurs, executives, and investors to Smart Village Cairo to build networks, discover new synergies, and learn from US and regional business leaders on the cutting edge of entrepreneurship.

Panel leaders will address targeted topics of direct value to entrepreneurs and investors alike: venture capital and angel financing best practices; challenges and opportunities in Egypt; the role of mentors, incubators, and entrepreneurship education; mobile and Facebook applications; enterprise software; and a host of proven strategies ready to be transplanted into the MENA region.

The following day, on October 26, TechWadi will host Egypt’s most vibrant and promising startups in partnership with the American University in Cairo School of Business for a mentorship day. Pre-selected startups will present to panels of TechWadi mentors.  Following company presentations, mentors will engage with entrepreneurs based on personal affinity and may choose to provide targeted coaching, guidance and access to resources.

The October 26 mentorship day marks the launch of the TechWadi100 mentorship network: highly distinguished entrepreneurs, investors, and executives dedicated to mentoring promising entrepreneurs in the MENA region. Our members, mainly based in Silicon Valley and representing the most successful leaders within their communities, pledge to engage their hearts and minds towards helping build a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in MENA.
