In March 2008, the California Board of Pharmacy (CBOP) published its "E-Pedigree Requirements" Devendra Mishra, Executive Director of the Bio Supply Management Alliance (BSMA), home of the Academy, stated, “The industry executives who are fostering the mission of the Academy firmly believe that E-Pedigree requirements, while being mandated by the Government, deserve serious for collaborative development and gradual implementation because of the inherent value it brings in providing visibility, accountability and control in the supply chain of the industry. The World Health Organization estimates that in developed countries, counterfeit drugs are about 1 percent of the market.
