Redibis continues climbing Gambero Rosso chart

Oct. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Bevagna, October 20, 2010 – Gambero Rosso's 21° edition of the “Guide to Italy's Restaurants” once again names Redibis as one of the best restaurants in Umbria, the region known for its nature, wine, food and fine dining.

The newly published guidebook classifies the restaurant in Bevagna with 80 over 100 points, assigning 2 points more than last year which account for their continued improvement and renewed commitment over time.

Points are given after carefully considering the following: cuisine, for which Redibis scored 47 over 60; wine cellar, 15 over 20; service, 17 over 20; setting, for which Redibis scored an extra bonus point as index of approval for its setting in an ancient 1st century A.D. Roman theater. There were also assigned 2 Forks, symbols that distinguish the best restaurants according to their level of “excellence”.

Redibis is classified 6th among the list of restaurants in Umbria by the well-known Gambero Rosso guidebook, rewarding the work of those who have brought forward a family culinary tradition of over 100 years. The dishes proposed by Redibis originated from an ancient recipe book based on typical dishes of the area and tended to by Donna Maria Angeli, grandmother to Francesco Antonini Mongalli, the current owner of the Historic Residence.

The ability of the staff  - Chef Antonio Falcone, Maitre Paolo Galanti, owners Francesco and Tiziana Antonini Mongalli - and their work has made it possible for this ambitious goal to be attained.

L'Orto degli Angeli is run by the aristocratic Angeli Nieri Mongalli family, who has lived here since 1788. The original charm of the architectural compound has been preserved throughout time, giving its guests a genuine feel for Umbria during their stay.

The Historic Residence is made up of 14 rooms in two buildings, Palazzo Andreozzi and Palazzo Alberti (5 superior rooms and 9 suites).

The exclusive restaurant “Redibis” at L'Orto degli Angeli stands on the ruins of a 1st century A.D. Roman theater, in a setting which has come forth from the past to celebrate the Umbrian ritual for fine dining.

The menu has been inspired by a legacy of ancient family recipes “Le ricette degli Angeli Nieri Mongalli. Cucina e stile di vita in una famiglia signorile nell’Italia del ‘900” di Maria Luciana Buseghin” The Food of the Angels. Gastronomy & lifestyle of the Angeli Nieri Mongalli, a gentry family in the XXth Century Italy”, published by Editrice La Rocca and written by Maria Luciana Buseghin where the culinary tradition of Bevagna is enriched with recipes of European countries resulting in extraordinary affinity and good taste.

The new addition to the Antonini home is the recently opened “Forno degli Angeli” pizzeria serving true Umbria pizza, born of ancient family recipes and prepared with quality ingredients from the Residence's garden and typical products of the surrounding territory.
