Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Haliburton, ON – October 20th, 2010-
The School’s Cool kindergarten readiness program is pleased to announce their workshop participation in the NAEYC Conference & Expo on November 4th from 8:30am-9:30 am, 2010 in Anaheim, California entitled “Systematic child assessment: Using outcome-based activities in a play-based environment to measure progress and optimize child success”.   NAEYC’s Annual Conference draws preschool educational professionals from across North America who are committed to helping ensure early childhood education receives ongoing, high-quality professional development.
Through their engaging and thought-provoking workshop the School’s Cool presenters will provide valuable aggregate information gained from 3000 child pre and post School’s Cool Developmental Checklists completed on children attending the program.  Results show a dramatic increase in language, math, cognitive, psychological and self-help skills amongst its graduates. (Chuang, 2008)
Attendees of this workshop will gain knowledge in:
•   Outcome-based programming
•   Effectively observing and documenting individual child data to measure progress
•   Strategies to support curriculum planning through a strength-based model
•   Introduction to the School’s Cool program as an example of using outcome-based activities in play-based learning
Full information on School’s Cool will be on display at Flaghouses ‘Flying Starts’ exhibit in the Exhibitor’s Hall-booth #336-throughout the conference.  An opportunity to meet the presenters will take place following the workshop on Thursday November 4th.
