Bloomberg Convenes Top Financial Minds at Asia Hedge Funds Summit; Dr. Mark Holder Selected Panelist

Asia: Boom or Bubble will bring Asia's most important investors together with the world’s top financial minds for a day of discussions on assessing the markets, exchanging expertise and gaining insight into the real story behind the headlines.

Oct. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- As growth in Asia outpaces the rest of the world and its economy continues to be a vibrant economic hub, Bloomberg LINK is set to bring together key investors and financial experts to discuss the rapidly changing hedge fund environment at the Bloomberg Hedge Funds Summit - Asia: Boom or Bubble?.

The full-day program will be held on October 19th, 2010 at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The program will feature on-stage interviews conducted by Bloomberg journalists with Asia’s central bankers, top investors, CEOs, hedge fund managers and regulatory officials. Topics will include fund-raising, investor perspectives, strategies for participating in Asia's markets and insight into the region's most interesting economies.

Mark Holder, director of Kent State University’s Master of Science in Financial Engineering Program, will participate in a panel discussion entitled “FX, RISK & THE INTERNATIONALIZATION OF THE YUAN”.  Other panelists include; Ronald Arculli, Chairman, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited,  Mansoor Mohi-uddin, Chief Currency Strategist, UBS Investment Bank and Ben Simpfendorfer, Chief China Economist, RBS Global Banking & Markets.  

The panelists will be interviewed by Willie Pesek, Asia-Pacific Columnist, Bloomberg News in an effort to explore the international pressure China faces to float the yuan.   The effects of U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner raising the rhetoric against China’s manipulation of the yuan, while China insists revaluation of the yuan will not solve imbalances in the global economy.  Plus, the panel will question;
•   How is China loosening its reigns on the yuan?
•   How is yuan valuation impacting trade?
•   What are the limitations to trading the yuan on the global FX market?
•   How are investors working around the lack of liquidity?
•   What is the outlook for the yuan becoming the currency of trade?
•   What does the growing internationalization of the yuan mean for the global markets?
•   How are corporations raising yuan off shore and what opportunities are there for investors?
•   How are the yen and the dollar moving against each other and how is the yuan playing into valuations?

Kent State University’s Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MSFE) program is designed for students with strong quantitative backgrounds who have career goals of becoming risk management officers, derivatives analysts or traders. The program is rigorous and requires the completion of 36 credit hours of coursework, including an industry-based project. The curriculum combines strong quantitative skills from mathematics with risk management and dynamic valuation skills from finance to address problems such as derivative securities valuation, portfolio structuring, risk management, and scenario simulation. The Kent State Master of Science in Financial Engineering Curriculum meets the guidelines established by the International Association of Financial Engineers.
