Exclusive! New Black African Children Cartoon Launches 1st Episode

Oct. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- The Pilot episode of African children cartoon, Bino & Fino was released online to wonderful reviews from fans.

Bino & Fino is a cartoon series for preschool and kindergarten children driven by education, entertainment and the Nigerian and African cultural mix. It is being produced by Nigerian creative studio EVCL.

‘This is something I feel is needed out there’ says EVCL head, Adamu Waziri. ‘Children cartoons and programming are incredibly influential. Most of us remember series such as Tom and Jerry, Transformers, Sesame Street, Bugs Bunny, Teletubbies etc. Every generation that had access to television will remember will remember at least one prominent series fondly. Some of those programmes educated us and even inspired us to do what we do today.’


‘To have a series where the principal characters are African in origin is quite important in today’s global village where children are receiving media programmes from a myriad of sources. At an early stage, children of black African origin either on the continent or in Diaspora will start to see programming that puts them on an equal footing as children from all over the world. Meanwhile, children from other parts of the world will start to see African children as children that are the same as they are. It’ll be a drop in the ocean but you have to start somewhere. Using what we’ve learnt from the release of the pilot episode plus the feedback from the fans via several social media channels, we intend to produce a DVD miniseries for sale soon.’
