Oct. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Since the arrival of the first shipment of i-MiEV electric vehicles in Melbourne on 4th August, Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has delivered several of the innovative vehicles to a number of i-MiEV Foundation Customer Group members. The forward-thinking organisations now experiencing the advanced technology of the vehicles include state and federal governments, local councils and environmentally aware corporations.

The MMAL  i-MiEV Foundation Customer Group consists of organisations which have successfully applied to lease one of the company’s innovative electric vehicles from August 2010. The Victorian Government was amongst the first organisations to receive an i-MiEV, along with the Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales Governments. City Councils now operating the i-MiEV include Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Marion in South Australia.

Commercial organisations which have taken delivery of their new i-MiEVs include the Rock Development Group from Canberra, Energy Australia from Sydney, and Better Place and carsales.com from Melbourne. These organisations, along with numerous others, will utilise the i-MiEV electric car on their company fleets, and are among the first Australians to experience the groundbreaking zero drive-time emissions technology on a daily basis.

MMAL is officially the first volume-production manufacturer to market electric vehicle technology in Australia. The i-MiEV has received considerable attention since its release in Japan in July 2009, due to its clean engine which produces zero drive time CO2 emissions. Utilising a large-capacity lithiumion battery system and a compact, high-output electric motor in place of a traditional gasoline power train, the i-MiEV has some impressive technical specifications for a zero drive-time emissions vehicle.
