Oct. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Leaflets can be an effective marketing strategy but the success of your leaflet will largely depend on your design.  Your leaflet has to be eye catching enough to instigate your customer’s interest enough for them to want to investigate further,  that could be them picking up the phone, visiting your website or placing that all important order.  The most important thing is investing in a designer that knows how to make a leaflet look and read well. We can all write a few lines and effectively develop our own text but if we are not trained in design, we may miss a lot of important points. Printing your own leaflets in black and white may be cost effective but it really won’t do you or your company any favours. Leaflets that are unprofessional will normally end up filed away somewhere or in the bin.
Remember not to use your business name as a headline for your leaflet, instead create something that is likely to hold your customers attention, also try to avoid long sentences with lots of words. The attention of your customers can be lost very quickly and if they are faced with huge amounts of text, they are likely to lose interest.  Try and include words that will grab the attention of your customers, designers call them power words and some of them include free, bargain and bonus. Incorporating these words into your text can help grab the attention of your customers and retain their attention.
Pictures should not always be avoided and the saying that a picture can paint a thousand words is true. Pictures can be powerful tools but remember not to fill your leaflets with them, getting the right balance is important.  Picking the right pictures is also vitally important and you must take the time to make sure that your pictures are completely relevant to your text.
Avoid clutter wherever possible because this is another way to lose the interest of customers.  Clutter can be confusing and allows the readers interest to wonder, meaning your message isn’t being absorbed.
Ultimately the design of your leaflet is the most important thing your customers will see and will be the difference of whether they continue to read on or not. Remember that you only have a certain amount of time to grab your customer’s attention and you will want to make a good impression.
