Small campaign, big ambitions.
For the first time ever in the City of Moreno Valley, a candidate has taken to the web to get his views and message across and the young voters ,which all politicians clamor for, are listening.
many candidates are checking polls, figures and facts and are rushing to be the first to
adapt to what the voters want and what the voters need from their representatives.
Some races are getting closer by the day, with a great deal of influence and power hanging
in the balance. While many are looking at and dissecting the Meg Whitman/Jerry Brown
competition, a small independent business owner in the City of Moreno Valley is focused on
the issues that are important to his community.
Many cities have come under fire recently due to the scandals surrounding the City of Bell and
what many believe is the largest sacking of public funds by a small group of politicians who
frivolously inflated their salaries and took advantage of loopholes in their local City regulations
to bring their part-time income into the high six figures. The people are talking and they all
have made a clear point in unison: change local politics and do something different.
Enter Jose Hector Ramirez - an individual who is a family man and local candidate for the District 2
seat of the Moreno Valley City Council. Ever since he became approved to be placed on the
November ballot, Mr. Ramirez has been walking, talking, shaking hands and building support for
his campaign. His rival? The incumbent Richard Stewart who has held his chair for well over a decade.
Just as any campaign looking to usurp an existing incumbent seat, the Ramirez campaign is facing an
almost impossible mission - get voters to know there is a choice and that they will be heard.
Ramirez has an ace up his sleeve however. The difference? He took a lesson from the Obama
campaign and has gone "digital."
If you live in Moreno Valley and perform a search that contains
any relevance to politics or the local elections, chances are you may already know Mr. Ramirez because
he is one of the first results. For the first time ever in the City, a candidate has taken to the web to get his views and
message across and the young voters ,which all politicians clamor for, are listening. With strong views
on building long-term business relationships, building renewable alternative energy sources,
and bringing new and cutting-edge technology to the City, Ramirez hopes to shake the ground
the giants walk and become the next council member to his home City.
He has done more than just "go digital;" however as another day arrives, Ramirez puts on his
weathered shoes and hits the pavement. He has admitted to losing a great deal of weight
recently due to the endless hikes and events he has put himself through to bring his name
into the minds of the voters.
What experience does he have? He has been a union representative
for blue-collared workers, a board member for non-profit sports organizations, an assistant to underprivileged
youth, a volunteer coach for a local high school and a small business owner. All of these things have
put him in contact with local government and local politics for some time. He is just an average guy
like the rest of us who hopes to win a council seat in a bedroom community and rattle some cages. He
has an idea, a plan, and an audience, but most importantly he has big ambitions and the means
to share them with not only his City but the world.
The internet is a powerful thing, wouldn't you agree?
