Oct. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- The $2 billion, 27-storey sky scraper standing tall at 550ft with 4,000,000 square feet of interior space has been designed after consultation with US-based architecture firms Perkins and Will & Hirsch Bedner Associates.

One of the most notable features of the house designed based on ‘Vaastu’ - a traditional Hindu system of design based on directional alignments – is that no floors are alike, and each floor has a different layout, material and design. Antilia has the distinction of being the world's first billion dollar home and largest home in the world.

The residence has six-storey parking spaces. The living space with nine elevators in their lobby is placed atop the parking lot. The house features a spacious ballroom with 80% of its ceiling covered with crystal chandeliers. The top floors of Antilia are designed as exclusive spaces, where the Ambanis play host to business guests. This area is designed to offer a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. The seventh floor is for in-house vehicle maintenance.

The house completed after seven years of construction boasts of four-storey open garden. A small theatre with a seating capacity for 50 is located on the eighth floor. The house has three helipads on the top floor. The construction is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Antilia is named after the mythical island in the Atlantic, Antillia.

The ninth floor is conceived as a 'refuge' floor. It will be used for rescue in case of emergencies. Two floors atop are designed as health zones featuring facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, and a health club. Above the health floors, a two-storied glass-fronted apartment is featured for the Ambani family's guests.

The house is currently ready to be occupied, and the Ambani family is expected to shift into the new palatial mansion by end of October. There will be 600 full-time staff to maintain the building.

Mukesh Ambani is an Indian business magnate and the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, the largest private sector enterprise in India, a Fortune 500 company, and one of the largest private sector conglomerates in the world.
