Places to go in Adeje

Oct. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Within the south of Tenerife there are many little charming towns, all competing for your attention. One of the strongest competitors is Adeje, a very lovely town nestled within the many here. The old town perches high above the ocean offering great views of the sea and the mountains around the area.

If you have a car you will find yourself just minutes away from some of the nicest beaches in the Canary Islands, with sparkling crystalline waters and white sands. From the town to the beach it is a winding journey through some beautiful Canary Island landscapes and past the mountainsides where villas proudly perch.

If you do not have a car then the town’s buses cater to all those wishing to travel to the beach, offering quick routes to all tourists eager for a dip in the ocean. The town itself is really rather charming, and it is a lovely spot that seems to have it all, lovely boutiques, great places to eat, trendy hotels and apartments in Tenerife. There is very little reason to stray from this particular post.

Here are some of the best locations this town has to offer.

Atlantis Sports Bar
This is a very pleasant, spacious bar within the town centre. A very nice place to spend a relaxed afternoon drink. The menu is modest but good enough, offering light snack to go well with the warm climate and the beverages on offer.  

This is a friendly family run business, owned by a couple who are always delighted to welcome new visitors. All major sporting events are shown here and there is a play area for children in the back.
A pleasant night here is the chippie night, where you can get home made fish and chips to eat in or takeaway, all for an astounding four Euros.

Los Olivos
Los Olivos offers some really exceptional tapas. For a taste that is distinctly Canary Islands head out here, it only serves foods and wine from the Canary Islands. On the menu there are great tapas, cheeses and hams. The Canary Island approach to tapas is nice and slow, sipping at your wine as if there is all the time in the world to spare.

El Canon
El Canon is perhaps most notable for its roof terrace, from which you can gaze over the whole of the town as you indulge over a few glasses of wine and the food on the menu. The menu here is rather overwhelming and just deciding what you want here may require a whole bottle of wine.
One of El Canon's specialities is the metre long sausage, which sure enough lives up to its name. Throughout the restaurant you can see some people sharing it, while those with the petite may attempt it all to themselves.   

Alternatively there is a great selection of tapas here for those wishing to enjoy the pick and mixing of small dishes. This is a nice way to quickly familiarise with Tenerife cuisine, Anchovies, garlic mushrooms, Canary potatoes, these are just a few of the favourites.
