Another classy style of embroidery famous for wedding sarees is mirror embroidery. Mirror embroidery is the specialty of Gujarat state. Mirror work is never done alone; in fact, it is usually in combination with other types of stitches or embroideries. This embroidery is carved with both large and small mirrors. Essentially, it was more utilized by Jats community. It is embellished using colorful threads like red, green, blue, yellow, black and maroon. The mirrors used are of different shapes and sizes like round shape, diamond shape and square shape. Though, round shape is the most common shape of mirrors used in this form of embroidery for wedding sarees. Kantha is the customary form of embroidery of West Bengal. Indeed, it is running style of stitch. It is also known as 'Dorukha', which means making worn out garments into beautiful garments. Consequently, it is also known as recycling art. In earlier times, the worn out silk or muslin clothes where used to be put in heaps and stitched together. It is believed that its date of origin lies during the era of Lord Buddha. The artists typically embroidery images of animals, human beings, flowers, geometric designs and legendary figures.
