Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Palm Springs, CA – Internationally acclaimed writer/director/producer Jorn Winther announced today his new Power Mentor Directing program that teaches emerging directors everything they need to know to direct film, television and stage.

Students will learn the art of directing through a rigorous program that explores various techniques to express their ideas through moving images. The 3-week course begins January 10, 2011, will be held at Cal State University San Bernandino, California, and is limited to 12 students.

At the conclusion of the program, there will be a screening of the students' final film.  Three films will be selected to receive cash prizes totaling $5,000, and will have an opportunity to be introduced to accomplished filmmakers in Hollywood.

Through the Power Mentor Directing program, students will gain an understanding of the inner workings of the movie industry, connect with other talented filmmakers, and get the unique opportunity to create a quality short from the ground up.

Mr. Winther states, “My three-week Power Mentor Directing course is designed to master the complex skills of becoming a Director of all media in the shortest period of time for a fraction of the cost it typically requires to acquire this type of education.  Students will also learn from executives from such films as Independence Day, DareDevil, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Secretariat and many others."

Unlike most directing workshops, the Power Mentor Directing program requires students to go through an acting workshop to prepare them for the critical skill of working with actors.  The acting class incorporates various acting techniques, including Stanislavsky's, Stella Adler Systems and Strasberg's Method, as well as the skills learned in the Meisner Technique class.

The Power Mentor Directing program also includes a distinguished lecture series from industry luminaries, including lectures by current Producers, Directors, Editors and Directors of Photography from Hollywood who have led the productions of major studio pictures.

The course is for serious students who are willing to make the financial and personal investment in their career.  After completing the Power Mentor Directing course, students will be able to seek employment armed with their own film and a recommendation by Mr. Winther.
